After a perilous sea crossing and a period in a Malaysian refugee camp, young Vietnamese Tinh and her family are welcomed as refugees in Canada and settle in Montreal where they start anew. However, Tinh faces significant challenges as she adapts to her new life; naturally shy and reserved, she must master a new language and integrate into an unfamiliar environment. Plagued by the memories of her arduous journey, Tinh must summon inner strength and resilience to overcome these obstacles and find happiness and success in her new home.
